If this had been 70 minutes, 80 minutes tops, I'd have cut it a break. You can't have a redneck vampire flick that's this lacking in fun and be almost 2 hours long.
Extra credit for the little vampire girl, I do love seeing evil vampire children.
Looking forward to the day that I'm turned into a vampire so I can sleep all day, eat all night and outlive everyone who has ever loved me
Backwoods vampires wrecking havoc out in the boonies. Solid acting from all involved. The blood soaked makeup on the vamps was nice with a mouth full of sharp teeth making them all look menacing. The kills needed some work as they could've and should've been bloodier. Doesn't do anything new but its a decent indie vampire horror flick.
"Vampires? That's just what we need to bring in the rentals. Come feed the pet goddamn fucking vampire."
The idea of a mobile home park full of vampires is an interesting one, but Bogieville tries to go in too many directions at once and keeps repeating certain things that don't need to be repeated over and over. How many times does one need to be told that the vampires have your scent and you can't leave without them tracking you down and eating your ass before the idea sticks? Apparently more than I cared to count.
A bit like Salem's Lot but make the setting a trailer park in rural surroundings.
The movie doesn't waste time giving us the characters and their situation as the story overall was pretty straight forward. There were some comedic moments within the movie and some bloody vampires too.
The effects wasn't over the top but they wasn't underwhelming either. Definitely something worth seeing for those into some blood soaked vampire attacks with a story that you don't have to worry about too seriously.
Overall this was a decent watch.
Worth pairing with:
30 Days of Night (2007)
Salem's Lot (1979 or 2024)
If Near Dark squatted in an abandoned trailer park and borrowed a few teeth from 30 Days of Night it would be this movie. This low-budget vampire flick has solid lore and a genuinely eerie setting, the "lost trailer park" backdrop gives it an isolated, almost dreamlike quality. The vampires look great visually, with some neat design choices, but unfortunately, their fanged dialogue can be hard to understand, which makes some key scenes fall flat. The film is shot surprisingly well for its scale, with decent performances from the cast even if no one really steals the show. There’s a caretaker character who had serious potential, but his scenes are too few and far between. The story itself feels familiar,…
I mostly watched this because of the trailer for it
It looked interesting and it looked good
Unfortunately the trailer was very misleading
No awesome or bloody kills just mostly offscreen or done in shadows and the story was painfully boring
On the plus side it wasn't mind numbingly stupid and not a lot of crappy cgi
Just a big letdown for me
100 Horror Movies In 92 Days
79/100
I’m not typically a fan of vampire movies, but this one stood out and I genuinely enjoyed it. The gritty setting and impressive makeup effects created a compelling atmosphere similar to "The Walking Dead." However, I must point out that the acting was lacking; it felt offbeat at times and was quite frustrating—still not a bad watch.
In one scene from this was when the cop is unloading his gun into one of the Vampires, upon firing his last bullet the guns slide didn't lock back in place and instead remained closed. For some reason this really bugged me and that's the main thing that stuck with me. It's the stupidest nitpick ever I'm aware and in the grand scheme of things it didn't make it any worse than it already was. This film was terrible (easily the worst film is saw at FrightFest), the acting was flat/bad, awfully paced & dialogue was horrible. The one thing I'll give the film is that the look of Vampires was pretty solid.
