This is my fifth time continuing this series where I pick five directors that I want to explore more and watch the five highest rated unseen movies they have directed, with a maximum of two documentaries by each director. I always include a description of why I chose each director as well as an ongoing list of my five favorite movies from this particular challenge. You can find this below:
John Ford: I'm quite intrigued by Ford as he is considered one of greatest American directors ever, but also has been criticized as having a conservative bent I'm eager to appraise for myself. He also happens to be from where I am currently living in Portland,…

He also happens to be from where I am currently living in Portland, Maine, and as I've often passed a statue of him, I feel like now is the time to watch more of his films.
Luca Guadagnino: Since Challengers was my favorite film of its year and also being quite enamored with Call Me By Your Name I am eager to watch more of Guadagnino's work even if I've also seen a few films that I didn't love as much.
Ryusuke Hamaguchi: Drive My Car instantly became one of my favorite movies when I watched it and I also liked the two other movies I've watch from him so it is high time I see a lot more of what he has offered cinematically.
Buster Keaton: Keaton has been a comedic inspiration for me for quite some time as I also love to perform stone-faced physical comedy out in public. I've read a book about him, | got a nice print of a painting of him for Christmas, and I've found joy in many of his films. It's a non-brainer for me to watch more of his work.
Agnès Varda: Varda is the director I feel the most embarrassed to say I've only seen a few of their films so I'm hoping to rectify that a bit by including her on this list. Every movie I've watched of hers I've found moving and unique so I'm excited to see more of her vision on screen.
