When the credits rolled, I turned to my friend and said:
“This is Belgian anti-cinema.”
The film is clearly driven by good intentions, with an important message at its core. Unfortunately, the creative choices along the way turn it into a jarring viewing experience.
The acting is one of the weakest points. Most of the cast, including the lead, deliver performances that feel painfully amateurish. I suspect the filmmakers aimed to capture a sense of authenticity by casting ordinary people, but it backfires spectacularly, making the film feel anything but real.
