Update: now sorted by release date! (According to letterboxd's dates). I'm including co-directed films as well as shorts. And I'm also going by the genres on here a lot of the time, which aren't always entirely accurate
TL;DR, things I'm including:
Sci-fi
Fantasy
Folklore & fairy tales
Superhero
Some witches/magic
Some supernatural (i.e. vampires, werewolves, etc.)
Myths
If it strays too far into horror territory I won't add it as there are a lot of lists about women in horror! :)
Also, please let me know if any of these don't fit the bill as I've not seen most of them and just went by what I read about them/the genres they were listed as on here or elsewhere.

I'm not sure if anyone else has made a list like this but I just wanted one for my own resources! In my quest to watch more movies directed by women, I realised that a lot of the genres I most enjoy watching were harder to find, namely sci-fi and fantasy. I'm probably just not looking hard enough, though.
Rambly thought process on what I included:
I'll include superhero type films, in that they have fantasy elements and often draw on mythology but I didn't want the title to be any longer. Also, some horror that includes mythical creatures or folklore fits, too (so vampire, werewolf, etc., films will go on here for now, at least, but slasher flicks and other kinds of horror won't, probably no paranormal &/or supernatural horror even though it should technically fit but it's my list, I guess. Plus there are SO many resources for women-directed horror, now, I think and not so many for other genres in my experience). And fairytale films. I feel like they're all related to the over-arching genres, anyway.
It took me forever to publish because I just kept not being able to deal with how genres really aren't clearly delineated things, are they, and my brain does not like that at all. (And kept umm'ing and ahhh'ing about the vampire and werewolf stuff but...folklore, like mythology, is so intrinsic to the history of fantasy, isn't it?)
Whatever! It's my list! And I think all of that is covered under 'related' really, thus rendering my ramble redundant.
But suggestions are more than welcome! If you can navigate my ridiculously complex ramblings on what I'm including. :\ Short films more than welcome!
