1 - Apparently July 1st is International Reggae Day. I'm a huge fan of ska (third wave American ska included but don't hold that against the first and second wave) and rocksteady which were the precursors to reggae. Watch a movie with a prominently reggae, ska, or rocksteady soundtrack

2 - I've seen 40ish movies in theaters so far this year. Everyone should get a subscription to a theater chain and go as often as possible. It's the best bang for your buck entertainment and the thing that grounds me the most. See any film in theaters or watch One that I've seen in theaters this year

3 - I'm lucky enough to be born and raised in New York where there's a ton of great independent cinemas and repository houses, so outside of a Regal subscription I also have one for Metrograph that comes with their streaming service (you can get the service separately for 5 bucks) Watch a movie showing at Metrograph this month or one from their streaming app.

4 - It's Independence Day in the US. Watch a film with the American flag on the poster

5 - Al Pacino is one of my favorite actors and Al Pacino from the 70s is the best Al Pacino. Watch a 70s Al Pacino movie

6 - Big fan of The Big Picture and The Rewatchables podcasts. Watch a movie covered on The Rewatchables (shout out to Marq for the list)

7 - It's my best friend Omaya's birthday. Watch one of her favorites from this list

8 - I bartend and it's ruined my life but I love it. Watch a movie that takes place predominantly in a bar

9 - Quentin Tarantino's Cinema Speculation is a great book I read recently about some pillar movies he loved from the 70s. Watch a film mentioned in the book

10 - I'm from Queens, NY which is the most underrated and diverse borough in the city. Watch a movie filmed in Queens, NY.

11 - I'm a huge Simpsons fan and got exposed to a lot of parodies and references to movies before I even seen them from that show. Watch a movie parodied or referenced on the Simpsons. Here's a list for reference

12 - I feel like every person had a really random movie on VHS or DVD as a kid that they'd watch religiously. Watch a movie you you watched a lot as child.

13 - I'm a huge wrestling fan and have been all my life so watch a movie starring a wrestler who isn't John Cena, The Rock, or Dave Bautista

14 - big fan of dark, moody, neon drenched purple blue and pink flicks. Watch a movie with bisexual lighting

15 - There's a few of my favorite directors birthdays this month. First up is Ari Aster. Watch an Ari Aster movie

16 - I used to promote shows for hardcore bands and grew up on punk music. The genre shaped a lot of who I am. Watch a movie that embodies punk music

17 - It's Wong Kar Wai's birthday today. I feel like his eye comes the closest to capturing the beautiful meloncholic solitude that I feel walking around late at night. He puts to film emotions I can't even put to words. Watch a Wong Kar Wai movie

18 - I live on the water and I both love and fear her in equal measure. Watch a movie that takes place on the beach or at sea.

19 - The final director birthday I'm gonna highlight in this scavenger hunt and it might be my favorite. Nobody meshes grindhouse grit with artistic flair like Abel Ferrera. His New York films especially capture the city better than anyone else. Watch an Abel Ferrera movie.

20 - The move towards AI depresses me. Resolve your love of the craft and the human touch on art by watching a movie featuring stop motion or claymation

21 - I support women's rights and women's wrongs. Watch a movie featuring women behaving badly.

22 - I was a misguided kid who got into a lot of trouble but it's a comfortable place when I reminisce about it. Watch a movie about wasted youth.

23 - The Drive In never dies! Watch a movie featured on The Last Drive In with Joe Bob Briggs

24 - Mike Patton is one of my favorite musicians. He's scored and voice acted in a bunch of films and his band Fantomas released the album Director's Cut where they covered a bunch of classic tv and movie soundtracks. Watch a movie scored by Mike Patton or covered on Director's Cut by Fantomas

25 - Watch a movie based on a comic or graphic novel

26 - My Dad took me to the movies almost every Sunday when I was a kid. He's put me on to a lot of great stuff and has a pretty eclectic taste. Watch one of his favorites

27 - Watch a sequel that was released at least 15 years after the previous film

28 - I feel like I want to just tell you to watch Thief cuz it's a perfect movie but that's not in the spirit of the hunt so I'll just say watch a movie with a single word for the title

29 - Big fan of giallo films and love all their long winded titles. So this one is the opposite of the last prompt. Watch a film with at least 6 words in the title

30 - I feel like besides movies, my love for cinematography (and music) was expanded and bolstered by skateboarding videos. Some of them are true art. Even Spike Jonze directed some. Watch a skateboarding video. You can find some here

31 - I love watching movies. I'm a night owl and find my best viewing experiences happen at 3am for me. Something about how quiet the night is and the mood is just condusive to how I enjoy film. Watch a film you think would be better late at night, whatever that may mean to you.
