I went into this not knowing anything about the movie whatsoever...
"Trinket Box" may not break a crazy amount of new ground in the horror genre, but what it does is stand out very well as a decent indie film with superbly well developed easy to understand and follow characters, an engaging story line, and well cast characters.
The cinematography and set design are A+ and provide some really scary atmosphere which is quite impressive for a low-budget film, but this isn't the kind of horror film that relies heavily on visual style really at all. There are many shots in the dark, though, that are hard to see at times, so the filmmakers let you use the power of your amazing and powerful imagination. I LOVE that!
This was a bit too slow for me. It started out pretty decent, but lost some of its punch by the end. It became predictable by the end as well.
Racist elderly chick gives a trinket box with a haunted necklace in it to a interracial couple that soon possesses the wife. Shenanigans ensue. Drama unfolds. Racism wins I think...
This was 104 mins long and should've been cut to 85 mins. It uses a single location approach and a small cast headed by 3 characters on screen. It's well made and well acted but it just didn't have anything to make it stick. Less racism and drama and more horror would've boasted my rating a bit.
I really have tried to complete a Tubi original horror movie to no avail . I call it a movie because it sure ain’t no film. In fact, this is more of an amateur Youtube movie. The premise of the story is solid, it’s just the delivery was terrible. So why would I say that? Example - some of the scripted scenes seem to go on and don’t really supply any visual experience to go with the thriller like atmosphere. Trinket Box tried to make a good attempt of having supernatural tones mixing with racial tone of the past haunting.
The movie started off with a racial tone and doesn't let you forget during certain scenes/dialogue. Runtime will be slow paced so we get invested in the couple more over time. However, the atmosphere during the night scenes takes you out of the movie due to the often poor lighting the viewer must deal with. Granted that this movie was a low budget movie but still a poorly lit night scene will throw anyone out of an immersing suspense scene if you can see the suspense.

Trinket Box is possibly the worst horror film I’ve seen so far this year. It’s 20% lame, boring horror movie, 80% watching two immature people in a doomed relationship trying to have a baby. Seriously, these characters have no romantic chemistry whatsoever and I was spending most of the runtime wondering how they even got together.
Also, the music cues in this film drove me up the fucking wall. They are so insistent that what’s being shown on the screen is scary, but it’s far more annoying than anything else. In fact, the whole sound of the movie itself is terrible.…

Today, the Nerd Cave hosted a mobile "Freaky Friday Horror Movie Watchparty Marathon" on RaveApp, watching 3 new Tubi Originals. Our 3rd movie of the day was 'Trinket Box'. well for one they forgot to turn the lights off at the theater i went to when the movie started so that was awkward. some guy had to go and ask for them to turn them off. also it seemed like a lot of stuff was getting cut off on the screen like maybe the dimensions of the movie were bigger than the screen in the theater.

The dialog starts off weird and the characters don't really act like real people. It's trying to be Get Out but fails at every turn.
I think it had some good shots. They had a good crew but the script was bad and not very orginal. They shot everything in a single location so it gets really boring. The leads had very little chemistry. I would skip this movie.
