For well over a decade now almost everything big budget related in Hollywood has been about franchises. As if the tentpole mania wasn't enough, the prevailing school of thought is to string them together into cinematic universes. Talk about delusions of fucking grandeur. What happened to just making a good film, and then taking it from there?
Like The Directors League, the ranking does not necessarily show how much I enjoy or love a particular franchise.
This is not 'Nam, hence there are rules:
• To qualify as a franchise there must be at least three films.
• Every film counts (including reboots, remakes, and spin-offs).*
• Not included are short films and animated films from usually live-action franchises (e.g.…

• Only the initial films are listed to keep it manageable.
• Check notes for average rating (based on a 10 point scale), and which films it includes.
• See notes also for individual lists (if available) or use the franchises ranked-tag.
• Will be updated every now and then.
