This Showdown, we’re lilting down the red (carpet) road of the EE BAFTA nominees for Outstanding Debut by a British (or Irish!) Writer, Director or Producer. Since 2010, this particular award has helped hungering filmmakers shake off the imposter syndrome as they shoot for the moon and take the layer cake (the history of the award is detailed by BAFTA here). Because the selection pool is limited to these 131 films, you can take control by listing fewer than the usual ten if you wish—though those passing their UK and Irish cinema exams may well reach that boiling point.
