precisely observed little character and relationship study. simple and good US independent cinema. perfect, tailermade actors cinema - all three leads are shining like a polished golden boy. the fighting sequence between Cera and Gross must be one for the books, hands down. just an overall sweet little fella, this one.

This had way more Marge Simpson Impressions than I was expecting.
I loved these 3 awkward weirdos so much. A lowkey bittersweet movie about adult siblings trying to reconnect and deal with their depression. I like that there's not lots of plot. Just shows the siblings living their lives and working through shit together. ☺️
The way these 3 deal with their discomfort by doing the stupidest bits ever rather than have a serious genuine conversation was painfully relatable to me.😬🤡
It does have a comfy vibe despite the awkwardness. The sisters wear really cosy sweaters🧶 and its good to see Michael Cera back in a Windbreaker. It’s nice and chill.

Mumblecore-American-Awkward-Indie-Stagnant-Cinema is the most bland and boring type of cinema to have somehow survived the times.
Films where nothing happens. Where characters don't change. Where there's no inciting incident. There's no plot. There's no climax. It starts with an awkward, mumbled whimper and fizzles out to nothingness. Aimless. Pointless.
Just a bunch of people in arrested development, constantly one line of dialogue away from crying.
In the early 2000's, we thought having characters being awkward, bland, sad, boring, and uninteresting was enough to call something an "indie film" and in 2023 this just isn't enough.
The poker stuff was pedestrian. Written by a dude who never played a game of poker it seems.

Ahh family. I kinda wish I had sisters. A very quiet movie. Just Michael Cera visiting his sisters and somehow dealing with life’s struggles and grief in the most real way.
If I had to sit next to these people in a Denny’s, I would be FURIOUS.
