Still with 100% less Bill Zebub!
Michelle (Guyver Spawn) has tasked herself with creating this year's lineup and she absolutely killed it. Give her a follow and check out her original list here!
CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Started by my good friend and best man Justin Hullinger in 2016, The Cult Movie Challenge has been an annual staple among a handful of us here on Letterboxd, and has introduced many viewers, myself included, to a plethora of movies and genres they likely wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Whether this is your first year, your tenth year, thank you for joining us!
And now to just copy and paste all of Justin's original text because I'm way too lazy to rewrite it…

Do you like cult movies? All kinds? All right, good, because this is the ultimate challenge. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, The 2025 (and 10th Annual) Cult Movie Challenge!
Taking a lot of inspiration from Monsieur Flynn's great challenge list Letterboxd Season Challenge 2015-16, this challenge is to watch a film once a week for the entire year. Each week will be a different theme (although there will be a lot of examples of overlap), which hopefully will allow for a lot of diversity and a lot of fun.
"Alright, sounds fun. But how do I go about doing this challenge?"
I'm glad you asked, non-existent person. This is my personal list for the challenge, but it also works as the rules. If you switch to "LIST VIEW", you'll see under each movie:
1) what week it is
2) what the theme is
3) a description of the theme
4) a list to assist you in choosing a movie
5) a tag for your review for the week
SOME NOTES/RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT THE CHALLENGE:
The goal here is to get a good variety of cult movies over various decades, genres, and countries.
With every viewing, don't forget to tag your reviews/views with "cmc2025" and that week's number (i.e. cmc2025week1 for Anime Week, etc.), so we can all do an easy search for each other's reviews. Also, don't forget to tag your list with "cmc2025list" so we can all be judgmental of each other's choices.
Don't feel like your initial selections have to be what you watch. If you come across problems with accessibility, or you just plain want to go with a different movie, feel free to swap them out.
If you fall behind, don't worry. Sometimes interest can wane, or sometimes things come up. We've got a whole year to do this, so you've got plenty of time to catch up.
Like a theme so much you want to double or, dare I say it, even triple dip? Go for it!
All right, everybody! Let's get our lists together and have a good campy time!
Once again, huge thanks to Michelle for putting together this lineup. She gets all the kudos this year!
