Epic Battles Movies
Movies where there is a large scale battle with lots of participants. Ideally set during a war but not restricted to this. Smallest a battle should be would be Amon Hen or the Chamber of Marzubal in Fellowship of the Ring. Both sides do not need to be evenly matched, it mostly references the scope and number of participants involved. Movies like John Wick where he takes down a nightclub full of guards does not quite make the cut. Duration must be at minimum a very action filled scene like in Fellowship but ideally, the battle would span multiple scenes. So movies like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade don’t count due to the ambush in the desert by the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword being brief, even though it meets the minimum amount of combatants. Movies like those of the Mad Max franchise may not always have a large amount of people involved but they are lengthy and epic enough in scale to be considered acceptable even if they are on the lower end of this scale. Battles where a large group face an overwhelming singular enemy like the Kraken in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest are acceptable. Battles of skirmishes where the character is not involved or where the character is just passing through are left out, like in Blood Diamond or Forrest Gump, where the characters are caught in the middle of a conflict. Sports “battles” are not included. Scale of fights is not included based on things like size of combatants. So Kong and Godzilla fighting may be literally “giant” battles, they are essentially 1v1 fights so they are excluded. Mostly comprehensive list of movies, not always good movies (looking at you The Last Jedi and The Last Airbender). I also realize I probably have broken a few of my rules as I’ve made the list.
