“Have you checked the children..?”
So I knew the famous line was coming but I wasn’t prepared for it to hit so soon and then give us the switch up! What a fuckin open. What a tease. All I could think was they better have something special planned for the next hour 15. Surprise! They didn’t.
This is a 5 star first 20 and a serviceable last 20 and a lukewarm thriller in the middle. Bordering on a Thomas Harris tale but it forgets to build interesting characters and provide any edge or decent maliciousness.
“Why haven’t you checked the children?”
Credit to the sound design and score which was real effective. It gave me goosebumps at some points.
Fucking wild seeing a young Carol Kane coz I only know her from granny roles. She’s got a real interesting career when you look into it.
“What do you want?”
“Your blood…. All over me.”
