You know how the movie The Day After Tomorrow is always laughed at because people are able to outrun the freezing? Well this movie has that too. But better. Not only is there scenes of people outrunning the freezing, but there's also a freezing/car chase scene which ends when they get to a lake and jump in a boat and then we get a freezing vs boat chase scene. AND THEN later on we have the Freezing chasing people on a snowmobile. And ice shards striking people in the neck and people turning to ice and cracking apart and pillars of ice forming right when helicopters are flying by. It's all so ridiculous. BUT THAT'S NOT THE DUMBEST/BEST PART. People…
Two of my challenges collide in this tremendous Chr-ICE-mas spectacular. A dis-ICE-ter movie for the ages.
There's a scene towards the beginning as the ice hits. The town mayor is doing a speech. He uses the word ‘prosperity’ as the camera cuts to ice engulfing the streets. I heard it as ‘frosterity’ and I can only put this down to the genius of the film-makers. And I got Terminator 2 (T-1000) hits from the frozen bodies crumbling into icey bits.
Additionally Christmas Icetastrophe is actually acted quite well. Which isn't a common denominator among low budget disaster films. And it's very enjoyable. A stone cold surprise.
Life improves slowly and goes wrong fast, and only catastrophe is clearly visible.
The Day After Christmas Tomorrow.
watching richard harmon's filmography - 21st

CUTE EDIT OF HIS CUTE CHARACTER THAT MADE ME WANNA CHECK THIS ONE BEFORE OTHERS…
"Looks like Santa puked all over the mayor's car."
Low-budget, B, 'SyFy Original' qualities aside, Icetastrophe is, well...kinda ICETASTIC.
The ratio of catastrophic cataclysm to camp is just right, & the result is something that's way more entertaining than it has any right to be.
10/10 recommend to fans of the genre.

23.-25. August 2024: Katastrophenfilme
A title that may be exactly as dumb as it sounds, while also still earning its sincere silliness. Same goes for the film itself.
Firstly, this thing just gets right on with the ludicrous concept, while also not forgetting to setup the characters and setting. It just doesn’t dawdle with it. A handful of conversations amidst 3 or 4 locations and we know all the main players, how they are related to each other by blood, business, romance or conflict; then boom, meteor hits the town, people are dead and we have to outrun the freeze.
Those opening scenes also manage to plant little seeds for the film’s climaxes. The meteor splitting into two, the kids playing with dynamite, the…
