Film #14 of the Podcast Macabre 2026 Horror Challenge: Feed My Frankenstein- A Frankenstein film
It's at least an interesting attempt to reimagine the Bride of Frankenstein, but nearly every choice felt misguided, from the performances to the makeup to the inclusion of Mary Shelley within the film. The first hour was annoying, and the second half was a dull Bonnie and Clyde-type story.

Part 2 of the Kurosawa double feature. This is a low-budget, dark revenge film. Teruyuki Kagawa plays Miyashita, a man looking for his daughter's murderer with the help of a math professor, played by Shô Aikawa. Much of the film is set in a dingy warehouse where they hold the suspected killers captive, and Kurosawa makes great use of the space, culminating in a chaotic shootout near the end.
It took until 2018, but 2017 has its first 5-star film for me. Anderson (serving as director and DP) is so precise with his compositions and camera movements, and has cemented himself as one of the best directors of actors out there (Sandler in PDL, DDL in TWBB, Phoenix/Hoffman in The Master, and the list goes on).
