Yk I genuinely think it might be sacrilegious that this is somehow my 2nd ever film I’ve seen Daniel Day Lewis in.
He’s always been in conversations about best ever actors and for some reason I’ve just totally skipped everything he’s been in
Which evident from this alone is a huge mistake because he’s just an insane talent. In a film with already meticulous detail enriched in every scene his character is another layer on top of that to the point of obsession but also so very genius.
However I do think that Vicky Krieps as Alma steals the limelight by not only complimenting Daniels performance but also completely elevating the film with an ever evolving captivating presence throughout.
And although I really did enjoy this film, and on the surface level it’s a simplistic film I’m not afraid to admit that I don’t think I actually fully understood it, I’ve seen this on a lot of peoples top 4’s and it’s very highly rated so if someone could explain the deeper stuff that would be great.
