Lanthimos can be very hit or miss for me I absolutely adore both of Poor Things and Dogtooth but wasn’t most fond of The Lobster and Sacred Deer however I have been looking forward to watching this.
God damn i fucking love Emma Stone, I’ve not even seen La La Land and I’m convinced she’s my favourite Actor:Actress. She’s just absolutely fantastic in every role and just brings a whole different essence to all of her age peers. I can’t wait to watch Bugonia
But ofcouse in this all credit goes to Olivia Colman for that incredibly powerful performance of Queen Anne, if you know your history you’ll know that she outlived 17 of her children majority being miscarriages and although unsaid in the film it’s clear from the portrayal. She remarkably captured the complexities of this role with both a massive amount of vulnerability but massive strength.
And although this film drops off a little bit half way through both the start and the ending is really strong.
But even when it’s a little dull the cinematography is beautiful, The unconventional framing and camera angles, the intimate candle lit scenes really draw you into this uneven world that Lanthimos set out to create perfectly.
