Harvey 🎉 🎆 🎉’s review published on Letterboxd:
I did not expect to enjoy this nearly as much as I did.
I obviously knew of the nature of this film going into it and what it explored but didn’t know the full story.
But because of all of that I really didn’t expect this film to be as stylish as it is, the cinematography and intimate camerawork is beautiful as hell the unexpected pan of the camera in certain scenes, the dolly and crash zoom worked so damn well in adding that uneasy feeling that it went for at times.
- I mean the scene where he’s acting in the makeup for the first time and he’s trying to stick it back on is just phenomenal
For sure is very “The Substance” like, even down to the little elements of body horror that it had.
I don’t think it’s as dark but I do think it’s a lot more hopeful but also so very sorrowful.
Sebastian Stan really had a great year didn’t he?
Genuinely should’ve been nominated for 2 Oscars this year.
Both him and Adam were exceptional.
