a film that has left me feeling so unimaginably hollow…the sorrow, the anguish, the trauma…all of it so poignant. this is a must see that i have avoided for far too long…wow. 

it is effective due to its hyper-realism and kravchenko’s portrayal of flyora, both of which made me sick to my fucking stomach. i can’t get it out of my head. the imagine of the village girl’s face as she stares at him after the whistle falls is burned into my brain. it’s transcendent. it’s a masterpiece.

i’ll never watch it again.
