It's Hooptober season again! Can't wait to have a delightfully spooky few weeks watching and reviewing every one of these films.
This year has been (and still is being) tough, be it the global pandemic, the violence and corruption that surrounds us, or just the sheer difficulty of adult life. At times like these, I can't be thankful enough for the horror cinema community, that still serves as a welcoming escapade from the woes of daily life with these movie marathon challenges that bring people with common tastes together.
And well, I say escapade from the woes of daily life, when ironically what we're escaping into are other people's experiences with more extraordinary woes... Someone needs to analize us horror…

Now to the star of the show. For those that don't know what this is, the Hooptober challenge consists of making a list of 31 horror movies to watch and review during the Halloween season. It was created by Cinemonster, and the criteria for selecting the films varies by year. In earlier versions, the challenge started in October 1st, but as it proved to be too uphill for a lot of people, the starting date is currently on September 15th.
Here are these year's rules: (by Cinemonster)
6 countries
6 decades
7 2nd films of franchises
4 body horror films
2 films from this year
3 disease based films
The highest rated horror film from the 50s that you haven't seen and can access.
1 film that is set entirely inside one location
1 Invisible Person film
1 Non Dracula Hammer Film
2 films with a black director or predominantly black cast or lead.
1 film with a movie theater in it.
I'm excited with this list, ranging from very goofy horror flicks to quite serious cinema. A few of these I've known for years but have never gotten around to, but there are others that I virtually know nothing about, so it will definitely be a varied journey. Here's to a delightful Halloween sesason!
