Movies based on real events ranked
Oscar Winners (Ranked) (2015)
(Best Adapted Screenplay)

I think this and Saving Private Ryan are the only critically acclaimed Movies that are based on real events that I’m just not that huge of a fan of, maybe that will change on this rewatch, but I tried to watch it a couple months ago and switched it off after an hour

And yeah what an absolute fool I was, this is absolutely fantastic, if this Oscar challenge that I’m doing has taught me anything it’s to give another chance to films that I didn’t like on first viewing.

I adore Henry Sugar and Sherlock but this for me is by far Benedict Cumberbatchs’ best performance by far, he brings such a profound depth to the completely complicated character being Alan Turing. He perfectly captures all of his “strange” eccentricities, his enormous amount of intellect and such personal vulnerabilities. His performance is both nuanced and incredibly compelling really getting you to empathise with his isolation.
What a performance.

I do think it’s truly a disgrace what this country did to Alan Turing after everything he did for this country.
