He’s A Perfectly Normal Boy! Hooptober XI
15/32 - 2000s (and on my theme)
I was wooed by all the amazing films on the Criterion Channel right now and went outside my Hooptober plan (again). I haven't seen this movie since it came out, but David Koepp has one of the highest hit rate for scripts. My general conclusion about Stephen King adaptations is that many of them are not as cinematic as they sound on paper. This is one of those movies. I really like the story, but the characters are pretty thin and the twist can be spotted about 10 minutes in.
Fortunately, Koepp is more than competent and we get a slightly better than good thriller out of a Shyamalan-esque premise and a Philip Glass score.
