Slappy McGee’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of my favorite Canadian sitcoms is called "CORNER GAS". And one of my favorite characters is the feisty little blonde cop played by Tara Spencer-Nairn.
Imagine my surprise when she pops up as the lead final girl in this final film of the WISHMASTER FRANCHISE.
Imagine my further surprise when she pops out of her clothes in the first five minutes when she's getting it on with her onscreen boyfriend.
Imagine my continuing surprise when she pops out of the shower a few scenes later and then continues throughout the film as the sex kitten looking for love from her boyfriend who is now paralyzed including his John Thomas, looking for love from the Good Looking Sleazy Lawyer friend turned horndog, looking for love from the greasy, sweaty Djinn in bad makeup. Girl likes wearing lingerie and getting frisky.
I must say that going back and rewatching episodes of "Corner Gas" is gonna be a whole new experience.
All that sexy sassyness aside... this wraps up the franchise fairly well. It's certainly as cheesy as the 3rd one, which was probably the worst of the four films. And this one has its issues for sure and is NOWHERE NEAR the fun of the first film or the second... but it's still enjoyable.
Finally the Wishmaster finds a final girl that makes her third wish, but it's a tricky one and he has to "work on it" a bit to try to fulfill it. He also has some fellow demon djinns breathing down his sweaty neck. Plus some ancient "Hunter" who has been awakened who is trying to kick his ass with a huge sword.
Yeah, some bizarre subplottage going on here.
But what does the Djinn really want?
I think it's just that he wants to be loved. Really loved. For who he is.
Awwwwww... a tender story for a bloodthirsty evil Djinn?
You betcha! We don't give a FUCK!!!
A bit audacious. A bit cheesy. A bit random. A bit sexy. A bit gratuitous.
All the bits add up.
I had fun watching this final installment.
I wish I could watch them all over again... aw fuck... now I've done it.
