This film's byline in letterboxd reads: "Somewhere in this movie, you will find yourself." And that's absolutely correct. Declaring myself as a Cathy sun, Sylvia moon, and Joey rising!
I give this film five stars, one star for each of the following reason:
1. I have said many times before that friendship is my favourite movie genre, and this film sits at the top of that category. Sobrang gusto ko silang maging kabarkada, o kahit kainuman man lang. Marilou Diaz-Abaya crafted a very strong friendship circle, at the same time, complete character arcs for each person.
2. Every woman in this film is fully fleshed, not just the four main characters. And they're all feminists in their own way, challenging…
I want whatever these girls have. Fuck the patriarchy and society's conventional rules!

so cool how this movie lets women carry the entire film !! moral (1982) feels ahead of its time just by letting them exist outside of being “good” or “likable”
