Oscar Winners (Ranked) (2024)
(Best animated feature)
I either have no idea what Robert Pattinson sounds like or he’s one of the best voice actors in the world. There’s no in between.
Context* This is my 4th Miyazaki film I’ve watched and also I watched this with the English dub because it’s got such a great voice cast, normally I’d never watch a dubbed film.
Aight so let me just start off with the obvious,it is an outstandingly beautiful film, in literally every way. The sound design, the moral of the story and of course how it looks but that goes without being said for Miyazaki films.
It definitely starts off a little slow but when they fall through the floor it really gets going, almost like the bridge scene in spirited away.
It will definitely benefit from a rewatch, I just didn’t fully feel attached to any of the characters this time around
The scene with Willem Defoe as the pelican for me is the best in the whole film by far, The artists work to convey that deep of an emotion through subtle expressions complimented by his haunting voice is nothing short of mesmerising for such a short part.
If you feel like anyone or any movie was snubbed from the Oscar’s from this year please let me know so I can also check them out!
(And also why is it Lily Gladstone)
