It’s as if you asked someone, who’d never seen a movie (or at least not enough of them), to make a movie. From the start you might think it’s a movie but as it goes on…zzZzzZzzzzzzzz…

Two stars for great set- and creature design. Not a penny more due to paper thin characters (we need to STOP using ’insert childhood trauma’), poorly executed scares and a sluggish tempo.

This movie proves that you can have an abundance of experience, resources, great actors, a musical composer genius at hand and still end up with something awful.

Cringe inducing, non-sensical (not in a good way), funny (without trying to be) and poorly poorly written with dialogue-bits like ”whoah” or a character citing the movie title ”this is disclosure day” with dramatic effect.

Spielberg is one of my absolute faves but this latest effort sadly ends up at the bottom of the bucket for me.

Part of the Pick Your Poison Challenge 2025. Day twenty-two ’Tentacle Tales’

I figured out the best way to watch this was to just sink into it - as is the case with most Lovecraftian tales. Loved the vibes and the imagery. Wish that I’d seen this one late night television as a kid, it would’ve traumatized me.
