Joshua Bradley’s review published on Letterboxd:
Possibly the worst parents ever. And I mean ALL of them.
I’m gonna go ahead and take this in my Hooptober as a 2020s movie as it fits my theme: He’s just a normal Boy!
I’m kind of over McAvoy in a roid flop sweat getting crazy, but, I have to admit, I had a better time than I thought I would. Perhaps I’m tired of it because he’s so damn good at it? He’s kind of becoming a Jack Nicholson and maybe that means he’ll lean on that to do some other kind of intense work.
In this film, the three-part reveal of the real demented idea behind this movie was the only payoff not in the trailer.
Solid Dutch guy jokes.
I saw this with my movie family- aka a family I met during a F&F marathon a year ago who had a savant teenage son obsessed with movies and particularly horror. The best part is they are all in for his passion and we saw 60 movies last year in a theater together. This was his pick as we ramp up to his favorite season complete with a matrix of horror fests and movies with the theaters they are playing at in a 50 mile radius.
