”I am enough. I deserve happiness. And I take full charge of my life today!”
Solid idea, solid cast, and solid people behind the scenes. All come together and you’d expect some sort of cohesive and fun horror-comedy. Unfortunately, there is a huge part of this film that is simply boring. It sounds ridiculous to give a film about an abusive relationship between a Nic Cage Dracula and Hoult Renfield, but so much of this is trying way too hard to be edgy and cool and it comes off as really annoying.
There are some parts here that I did chuckle at because of certain line deliveries, but there are borderline zero plot lines here. There are things that happen and things that are supposed to be interesting, but it has no weight and feels like it was thrown together 5 minutes before they started filming. It wasted a fun casting opportunity for Dracula and it doesn’t even use its R-rating to make it fun. It’s unnecessarily gory for no reason and not even in a good way. Renfield was bad and not a great start to the Halloween movie festivities.
