I watched PARANORMAL ACTIVITY at midnight in a packed theatre when it first came out, and it was without a doubt one of the best theatre experiences of my life. The crowd was into it. Then I got home at 3 AM and had to find my way around in my pitch-black old apartment where every floorboard and every door creaked and freaked me out. Hell yeah. 

I chose the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films for my series because I wanted to revisit these. In my experience a lot of these simple found footage movies make for a fun first-time experience but don’t often hold up well to rewatches. I think because so many of them are stripped down with one or two locations and are heavily reliant on jump scares. That can make the films in a series like that blend together. 

Having rewatched this for the first time in a while, it does hold up. The relationship between Katie and Micah provides some levity, even though Micah proves to be a douche. The nighttime scenes are still excellent for setting up tension. It still works for me, dog. Not sure about the rest of the series though.
