A sweaty neo noir mystery slowly descending into a supernatural occultish nightmare? Sign me the fuck up! As beautiful as it is chilling, as thrilling as it is gruesome and my god (or should I say satan) that ending is as marvelous as it is fucked up. Mickey Rourke is bloody fantastic as the titular character and the few glimpses of Robert De Niro is genuinely unsettling. And I fucked with the vibe of the movie so much even when the tonal shift arrives it is done so brilliantly that you can't help but admire. Great movie!

I gotta check more of Rourke, esp from the 80s. Loved his work in Rumble Fish as well. Also man he had such a beautiful face, shame what happened with that plastic surgery :/
