At least the filmmaker was IN on the joke. Heck, he wrote it.
Basically a parody of those old school, 50's monster movies or space alien movies. Purposefully cheesy dialogue and acting. Lots of silly wordplay making fun of the bad dialogue from those kinds of pictures.

Kind of clever and chuckle-inducing at times.
Other times... it just kind of grates on ya.
