Devin Warner’s review published on Letterboxd:
Was under the impression the pork buns were the focus so in my mind its like oh this will just be a weird Sweeney Todd type of situation and boy was I wrong. CAT III films like to push that envelope and yeah that ending certainly did and made this one a tough watch but very good still. Anthony Wong is unhinged in this role and really gives it his all. Danny Lee is a delightful playboy of a cop with his gang of often times buffoonish subordinates. Though Danny is always one to make sure that he has no time for the ladies when there is real work to do. I'd been told that the real reason they made this fictionalized version of the Eight Immortals Restaraunt murders take place in Macau, where the real ones did take place, instead of Hong Kong where it was filmed is because Danny is a true BFF of the cops and didn't want to belittle the Hong Kong police with their antics but doing it to Macau is perfectly fine.
