Oscar Winners (Ranked) (2022)
(Best Live-action Short)
“Just because a film stands on the right side of an issue doesn’t make it a good film”
This being a reminder of that.
The first half of this film is great and because I knew the message going into it I worked out pretty quick where it was going but then it goes fully dystopia and turned into a full blown piece that you would do in school for a Drama exam -mainly when Riz Ahmed started doing poetry - rather than any sort of profound statement
It’s obviously a hard short to dislike because of what it tries to achieve but because of that middle track it felt more like a promo for his album then it did a short.
