Alien: Covenant

That’s it. I’m doing it. No matter how crazy or controversial of a take this is, I’m pushing Alien: Covenant to 5 stars.

I get why this entry into the mega successful franchise is frowned upon, but I have to stick true to myself and acknowledge that I fucking love this film. It’s got so many jaw dropping badass and brutal moments that I can’t help but think, why don’t people like this more?? I get the characters aren’t all…

Still going to regard this as a positive watch, but I’m very disappointed… Without a doubt the movie I was most excited for this year and there are just way too many things I disliked. I appreciate the elements utilized within the film to adhere to some of the classic scenery from the originals, but with the modernized filter it just felt, odd. The film is gorgeous and was able to capture that Alien feel, but many issues are riddled throughout.

Netflix slop
AI generated script with predictable outcomes
Cringe inducing dialogue
Uninspiring characters with no substance

How these movies continue to be made simply baffles me. I guess when Netflix makes as much as they do, they can output the same regurgitated trash over and over again. Just have the new hot action star lead it, throw on a badass title, and create something magically dogshit.

I know every movie can’t be great, but the Netflix formula is so abhorrent…

Until Dawn

Can I ask why we even named this Until Dawn???

Why not just make a generic slasher with a unique name based around the same storyline???

In the end it doesn’t even matter cause this was dog water.
Uninspiring and so boring.
Terrible acting.
Awful pacing.
Same formula as every other modern day horror film.

Where did the creativity go?

Just go play the game. It’s a better story, more engaging, better cast, and actually enjoyable.

NO MORE VIDEO GAME ADAPTATIONS UNLESS THE DIRECTOR ACTUALLY CARES.

So, if you looked at my films logged, you’d see that I haven’t watched a lot of horror movies. I’ve seen some classics for sure, The Thing and Alien being among my Top 10 favorite movies list. I for the most part enjoy the more psychological type ones, and The VVITCH absolutely scratched that itch.

This is my first Eggers viewing, and his ability to create a sense of paranoia and fear is something I haven’t really felt before. This…

Happy 16 Year Anniversary!!

Still the best comic to movie adaptation, still the best villain performance, and Bale is still the best Batman.

The Dark Knight is so much more than just a superhero movie. It dives into much deeper themes that other studios can only hope to achieve.

Nolan transcended the genre and to this day sits alone at the top when compared to anything else out there. While The Dark Knight is my second favorite Nolan, I’d argue it’s without a doubt his Magnum Opus.
