Slappy McGee’s review published on Letterboxd:
Early, early Spielberg. A TV movie that he made right after "Duel" that is strangely foreshadowing of "Poltergeist" that he would "phantom-direct" some 10 years later... ahhhh, a Hooper connection for this 11th Hooptober.
Limited by a TV budget and probably the TV producers, this is a very definite sub-par offering from Jaws-boy. But it did scoop a few stars of the day like Darren McGavin, Sandy Dennis and Ralph Bellamy, plus several others that you would recognize... so the acting is pretty damn solid throughout.
However, it has production value issues and doesn't look all that great. Too washed out with natural light at times, so the lighting doesn't help. The pacing is definitely off, and it only really comes together towards the end.
Still... it's worth checking out if you have the time and are curious about Spielberg's earlier work.
