C.H.U.D.

I am not kidding when I say that the central plot of this film never actually comes to conclusion. The plot involves toxic waste creatures in the sewers of the city that start eating and making people disappear. Then the main guy finds out about it and then gets stuck down there then realizes the problem and then confronts who’s responsible; then the film ends. It’s literally never answered if the creatures fully died or the ones above the surface escaped and if anything really of substance happened!

I liked the look of the creatures and at first it had an interesting way that it was telling its story, but it really lost me in the second and third acts and I really did not enjoy much of it. It felt like a slug to get through and when you’re only 97 minutes that’s a problem. I’ve definitely seen worse horror films, but what C.H.U.D. really comes down to is that it’s fairly boring and the whole horror aspect is like shoved into one scene. It is lackluster! This is Douglas Cheek’s first and only feature film and honestly I can’t say I’m at all surprised.
