Watched this after Rowlands’ recent passing. I could rave about the many great aspects of this film, but it really is Gena Rowlands’ performance that makes this a masterpiece — one of the most vulnerable, devastating, impassioned performances committed to celluloid, that still holds up today both in memory and influence.
