I'm a sucker for many things this movie touches.
The 90s aesthetics, the 4:3 framing (that when done right does feel more intimate), the mother-son relationship, coming-of-age and slice-of-life, feeling lost and wanting to belong, grief.
Choi Seung-yoon is fantastic and you just want her to flourish.
It's a good criticism I guess that 117 minutes felt too short for me. I really would've liked to see more of the first act, felt like the timejump happened quite fast.
The pacing in general could've been better too, one of the big emotional moment didn't hit me that hard because it felt distant to me and stuck between other scenes. It felt real and not melodramatic though.
Despite the tough themes it felt comforting too. Really enjoyed this and would definitely rewatch it.
