Ghoul Gruel’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fuck, this pulled off late 70’s early 80’s era horror brilliantly. It looks stunning and the score is exceptionally effective. Jocelin Donahue is giving her absolute Jessica Harper, and Greta Gerwig is a whole vibe.
80% of the film is so goddamn slow with only the smallest peaks of horror to tease you. Then the last 20min go off the boil, which I was gasping for and was so pleased when it paid off. Even though I was a lil disappointed while watching that we might not get it, I was never bored. It’s simply too well crafted. And now that it’s over I feel very content. It’s really a whole thing and I’m surprised and impressed.
And while fuck-all was happening it gave me plenty of time to sit in my extreme unease at how she behaved in that strangers home.
