Pretty entertaining dino schlock. No, the CGI dinosaurs aren't great, but the movie is full of colourful characters and at least they're not all assholes (which is often a problem with b-movies from this era). They do start to make more and more crappy decisions towards the end though, which is annoying.
this may have been poorly written, terribly shot, and cursed with barely working audio, but at least it has homophobia and misogyny
wait a minute! I don't like ANY of those things!!
The CGI assets are menacing but the real predators were those gargantuan mommy milkers all along.

Professor: That question is when did man become up right?

Hello Letterboxd folks. I'm going to break out with this review here. I guess this falls under science fiction. Ehh creature feature is more accurate. This story is pretty far fetched that even the tabloids won't even print this stuff.
Perhaps a new slogan from the SY-FI channel, Imagine Cheaper? Anyway...

Abbi Whitecloud ( Jana Mashonee ) wants to move to the big city and become a singer. She really wants to forget this neck of the woods called Fossil Ridge. Being that…

Watch some reptile horror. Non-avian dinosaurs do count because they are considered to be reptiles.
I decided to check out this movie because I have been in a Dinosaur mood lately. Seeing that this movie was available on Vudu for free, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, I kinda like this movie. I had a lot of fun watching this movie because it was entertaining. Don't get me wrong, Raptor Ranch is not a good movie at all.
The story is a total mess and the acting is pretty bad too. The characters are your typical cliché horror movie stereotypes and you don't care for any of…
Apparently the Jurassic Park and Carnosaur series both lied to us. You don't need hi-tech lab facilities or billion dollar investments to resurrect prehistoric lifeforms; you just need an old redneck with a supposed Dr. Moreau like past, a few barns, and a containment system even more easy to compromise than the one on Isla Nubar that cost millions. Literally just a on/off switch labelled 'doors' waiting for any meat head to pass by and think the label refers to the seventies band and flip it out of curiosity.
Admittedly I enjoyed this more on rewatch, but it was still rather flawed. This was a 2013 film yet the principal characters all resembled stock characters from films made a decade…

Ludicrous plotline, over the top characters, low budget cgi effects, and a song and dance finale! On top of that we get a mad doctor with a heart problem, a restaurant that serves squirrel and possum, and Lorenzo Lamas showing up for a morning's worth of work so they could get a "name" on the credits. The characters are caricatures and the acting is a bit over the top, but it all gels together in a fun, campy way.
Acting and CGI as bad as expected. And some pretty bad objectification.
But a couple of practical scenes were, dare I say, good? And there were some jokes, and I genuinely laughed at some. And it definitely was never boring.
7/10
Did another impromptu online Watch Party last night, this time for this movie, and even though only a couple others popped in for it this time, we still had a blast and everyone that did pop in seemed to enjoy talking about, and riffing on, the movie.
The Dinosaur Experiment, aka Raptor Ranch, from 2014, is one of those movies that overall is not very good, but I still really enjoy it quite a bit anyway. The acting is pretty questionable, even with a movie as low budget as this, the script makes little to no sense most of the time, some of the editing of shots is horrible, there's a subplot with two Government agents that go nowhere…
There are much worse low budget brain rotters out there!
I have to admit that I had a lot of fun with this. There are enough kooky moments, funny characters and daft one liners to make this work. It probably goes without saying, but if your "taste" isn't already specially attuned, you will want to claw your eyes out.
