With this being a Tony Scott film, I was expecting a super enjoyable, super fun, over the top action/war flick, but I couldn't have been more wrong. "Crimson Tide" is actually an extremely claustrophobic, intense thriller about the constant looming threat of nuclear war and the imperfect military protocol surrounding it.
If it wasn't for the ending that I didn't think fit the films overall tone or vibe in the slightest, leaving me with a bit of a grimace on my face, I'd have been screaming from the hills that this is a perfect film. However, it's still underrated and just for the joy of seeing Scott, Denzel and Hackman doing their thing, it's well worth a watch.
