Ghoul Gruel’s review published on Letterboxd:
“The most beautiful thing in the world is smoking pot and fucking on a waterbed at the same time.” lol wut
At first I thought this was quirky but tedious. Then the elevator scene happened and it made me so happy seeing an arm fly off. The movie’s first 5-10min were strong but from there it alternated between extended and unimportant walking and talking and very brief spikes of exciting, funny, or inane.
I frequently forgot the characters and didn’t care one iota for the plot. All I knew is that when the chainsaw started up I’d see a fun and gory death.
But at least I was smiling when the credits rolled coz the very very end was ridiculously good. And despite it all, I look forward to watching it again.
Running notes:
• Ha omg the mirror scene was so irrelevant
• The dialogue is so flippant. Some great one liners.
• Bunko computer games
• This movie is glacial
• That puzzle has had the hardest life. Not surprising with how he mashes the pieces in.
• Dong.
• “What if you gag me huh? I won’t make any noise then.”
• Wtf kung fu professor
• Chekhov’s waterbed
• Baaaaassstaaaard!
• I’ve been watching for weeks.
