films where a prominent character is disabled and the film treats it respectfully. no inspo porn or tragedy porn for the sake of abled viewers, but no ignorance of disabled life.
i havent seen all of them but do research on ones ive yet to see to make sure they were well received by disabled viewers and that i get all the content warnings right.
disabled: mental or physical illness, disorder or disease that requires consideration and accommodation. affects that character's life in some way.
notes will include: what disabilities or implied disabilities are featured in which prominent characters, content warnings that include ableism or other sensitive themes, and if any actors are actually disabled.
if you're disabled, please let me know which films you saw that had respectful portrayal of disabled characters in a main/co role while being enjoyable films overall.
