***************
A western drama/romance.
Not really my cup of tea.
A bit too melodramatic for my tastes.
But I can certainly see the reason this flick is so well-regarded.
Two over-the-top and powerful performances by both Barbara Stanwyck and Walter Huston. They kind of swallow up everyone else around them. Not usually a good thing, but in this genre, it works quite well.
Kind of sweeping story set in and about the Ranch called "THE FURIES", father and daughter caught in a Shakespearean-sized eternal struggle. Kind of dug that part of the story.
Some great character work in the story letting these flawed people drive the plot itself.
Overall, I enjoyed it... but, again, not my jam really. Probably wouldn't rewatch it, but glad I saw it.
