Prompts:

1. Well… there's no time like the present! Watch a movie you've been putting off watching.
2. Let's take another look at your watchlist. Find the movie on it that takes place the farthest back in time.
3. It's your day! Watch a movie that was released on your birthday (just the month and day, not necessarily the year). 
4. Now, let's make it about me! I was born in 1998. Watch any movie released that year.
5. I was born at the end of the Disney Renaissance, which had its films spawn many an ill-advised sequel. Watch any direct-to-video sequel – doesn't have to be Disney!
6. Disney's not out of the woods yet. They've made some… odd live-action movies over the years. Watch any of the bizarre selections from this list, or any live-action Disney movie.
7. Even if they aren't musicals, Disney usually incorporates at least one original song into their films. Watch a movie that shares its name with a song – either a song that was in the movie, or one being inspired by the other.
8. Another title-based prompt: watch a movie with the name of a city in the title.
9. My family is from the often name-checked California – let's give a shoutout to them! My mom's favorite movie is Local Hero. Watch a movie with someone involved in the production of that movie (or, alternatively, just watch Local Hero!).
10. My dad doesn't have a favorite movie, but he does have a favorite actor: Jason Bateman, whose sister Justine Bateman is also an actor. Watch a movie featuring an actor whose sibling is also in the same profession.
11. What's my favorite movie? I'm glad you asked! It's One, Two, Three, about an American executive in Berlin. Watch a movie about a transplant in another country.
12. Influential graphic designer Saul Bass created the poster for One, Two, Three. Watch a movie with a Saul Bass-designed poster or title sequence.
13. Another giant in poster design was Bill Gold. Bill Gold-designed poster.
14. I wish there was an Academy Award for poster design. There is, however, many for other technical achievements. Watch a movie that was nominated for an Oscar ONLY in a technical category.
15. Oscars leave out sci-fi and fantasy movies more often than I'd like. Watch a sci-fi or fantasy movie that is not based on a book or any other pre-existing material (inspired by mythology or fairy tales is fine).
16. The Oscars are no stranger to controversy. Watch a movie that had some sort of controversy surrounding it.
17. Where there is controversy, there is often censorship. Watch a movie that either defied or was deeply affected by censorship.
18. Noirs often tested the limits of censors. Watch a noir or neo-noir.
19. Keeping in the noir theme, watch a movie about revenge or vengeance.
20. Vengeance is enacted in You Were Never Really Here, scored by Jonny Greenwood. Watch a movie with music done by someone either initially or primarily known for non-film-score work.
21. The Greenwood-scored There Will Be Blood often shows up on many people's favorite films lists. Watch one of the top four movies of someone you follow on Letterboxd.
22. Paul Dano plays twins in There Will Be Blood. Watch a movie where one actor plays at least two different roles.
23. Longtime Paul Thomas Anderson collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman's death was sudden and tragic. Watch a movie featuring or created by a deceased artist whose death deeply affected you.
24. People's real lives can be stranger than fiction. Watch a biopic of a person you know very little about.
25. Biopics often fall victim to awards fodder. Watch a movie that took the top prize at a major film festival.
26. Joker controversially won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. The movie was scored by Hildur Guðnadóttir, the first female solo composer to win the Golden Globe and BAFTA for best score. Watch a movie scored by a female composer.
27. Watch a film that features both animation and live action in any capacity. (Here’s a reference!)
28. One of the most famous sequences of animation and live action is in Mary Poppins. Star Julie Andrews once had a short-lived variety show, called The Julie Andrews Hour. Watch a movie featuring someone who has hosted or currently hosts their own talk, variety, sketch, quiz, or game show.
29. Primetime talk shows are colloquially referred to as "late night." Watch a movie that takes place over the course of a single day or night.
30. A classic example of a film-in-a-single-day is Touch of Evil, which is set at the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Watch a movie from a country that borders your own. If you're from an island nation, watch a film from the country closest to you.
31. We went international, now let's go a little more local. Watch a movie that takes place the closest to where you live or are staying right now.

– I absolutely love musicals! Watch any musical.
– I live in Orange County, California. Watch a movie filmed or set somewhere in Orange County.
– I was obsessed with Star Wars as a kid. Not as much anymore, but I still love it. Watch a movie featuring something or someone you loved as a child, but not as strongly now.
– We all have our favorites. Watch a movie with someone you know’s favorite actor.
– You know what’s cool? Posters. Until they’re not. Watch a movie with a terrible poster.
– Even those of us with rare-ish names have someone to connect with. Watch a movie featuring or worked on by someone who shares your first name.
– Watch a movie featuring a song by one of your favorite musicians!
– I am a pretty big Anglophile. Watch a British movie.
– Watch a movie in a genre you typically don't like.
– Watch a documentary!
