Hooptober XII: Film 3/35

Based on a Novel #1

😮

I have wanted to watch The Shining for years. Ever since I fell in love with movies and started to care about them, this film has been at the top of my list, especially because horror is one of my favorite genres. Now, after years of not knowing and having the right time to watch it, I finally saw the classic, world-renowned horror masterpiece, The Shining.

Hooptober XII: Film 23/34
Mexican/C. Am. Director, Mexico

There is a lot to unpack from this latest iteration of Mary Shelley's timeless book, Frankenstein. Being the first film I have seen from Guillermo del Toro, there is a lot to admire here. A gorgeous wonder with a magnetic cast, mesmerizing visuals, and a thoughtful and stunning script. While I expected more resonance, I still highly respect everything Midnight in Paris is saying.

I’m not okay.

Sorry, Baby is a masterful feat of filmmaking. It’s extremely stripped back, gentle, but heavy and expressive simultaneously. Eva Victor gives a captivatingly emotional lead performance, enhanced by their immaculate direction and writing. I was just totally floored by this beautiful coming-of-age feature that I will struggle to shake off my mind.

No one probably cares what I say because it's all been said before numerous times, but this movie is absolutely mindblowing. Performances are all amazing, the script is very well crafted, and the cinematography is GORGEOUS. The score is beautiful as well. What more can I say? PTA is just a masterful filmmaker, a legend, an auteur.

Holy shit

Bugonia has been one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I have loved all Yorgos movies I have seen. I love the absurdity, the creative flair, and the wide range of genres he has explored throughout his filmography. And this newest installment is no different.

First off, the lead performances are absolutely amazing. Emma Stone delivers what might be my favorite performance from her that I have seen thus far. She nails every line of dialogue,…
