- main setting: elite culture (as defined by folklore rules) of a prestigious educational institution
- gothic elements (well. Kinda)
- crime (generally by conspiracy and besides, like, bullying/harassment)
- bonus points for: a liberal arts focus, supernatural themes, lgbt themes, unnatural/forbidden knowledge, manipulative faculty, hubristic peers, and/or repressed/haunted lead

- rush for your life isn’t on lbox

- probably will remove some of these if/when i see them & decide they don’t fit well enough
- we should go back to calling this genre a campus novel actually...

- removing a specific unnamed movie because thandiwe has spoken out extensively about what the director did to her on set and in the years afterwards. not doing free advertising for that guy and esp not on a racial standpoint list
