powerful, relentless, tragic… is simply clear how important this film is, not only for the cinema but also for history itself. From the exceptional use of cinematographic techniques, the absurdly visceral score that leaves you breathless, to the HYPNOTIC performance of Jeanne Falconetti as Joan of Arc is one of the clear examples of why this film has the reputation it deserves.

This magnificent silent film is not afraid to delve into subjects that they formerly considered taboos at that time, being themes of faith, martyrdom, arrogance and the nature of belief in the face of adversity. What an absurdly good exploitation that brutally shows the internal struggles and the strength of character that Joan of Arc possessed, all this observation is interpreted as a representation of the human spirit and the search for her own convictions, despite the overwhelming opposition. The intense focus of the film on Joan’s emotional and psychological turmoil is heavy, brutal and above all realistic, and they have tried their best to make this film the most historically accurate possible, using real documents and evidence for the film, all of this makes me travel even more on various thoughts and even doubt of the nature of faith, the human spirit and the conflict between individual conviction and the pressure of society and religion, an absolute masterpiece that should never fall into forgetfulness.
