Glenn Ford plays the title character that stumbles (quite literally) into the lives of rancher Ernest Borgnine and his brazen hussy of an unfaithful wife played by Valerie French.

Borgnine takes a shining to Jubal as does his wife. Whoops. Fortunately, Jubal is a man of honor and doesn't succumb to the vixen's advances. But unfortunately for him, one of the main ranch hands Pinky - played by Rod Steiger - is in love with the boss's wife and hates Jubal just because he showed up smelling like Sheep Dip and is a better person than Pinky is.

So you just KNOW that Pinky is going to throw a horseshoe into the bucket and mess things up for our hero Jubal.

However, Jubal does befriend a large group of religious migrants and a young cowboy riding with them - played by Charles Bronson, so he does have SOME help along the way.

And there ya go, plot wise. It's a pretty grand melodrama overall, played out in a western-style with some beautiful western landscapes. It really looks amazing and it does have some great performances as well. Well worth the rental.
