***************
A fairly scattered spaghetti western in terms of story. Kind of all over the place at times. Some of it works, but they get into the weeds near the end.
Plus as good as Klaus Kinski is with his bizarre character, it seems a bit forced into the plot in this movie. Like the producers said: "Hey, we got that insane Kinski dude to commit to our movie, let's write him into this thing!"
Technically, there are some weird things happening as the frame rate slows and speeds up at times. Very distracting and it seems to be a result of some bad dubbing. When the dialogue speeds up, the movie has to speed up to catch up with it and when the dialogue slows, the movie goes into an awkward slower frame rate as well.
Just weird and ultimately distracting.
Otherwise, it's pretty watchable. Kinski's character is hard to figure out, but he does a great job with it. Although the voice dubbing is highly distracting (I don't think he dubbed his own voice, as it doesn't really sound like him to me). The character's motives are not entirely clear and he totes around several different books all containing hidden guns. That's interesting and very cool, but the rest of the character seems to be a bit off-to-the-side in regards to the rest of the plot... until the end at least.
Also... the movie does a get a bit "rape-y" in the middle. So - trigger warning there, I guess.
Overall, it's not horrible. But it's also not very good.
