***************
Of the three different Disney "Haunted Mansion" movies, this is far and away the best one.
I did like the Muppets version, and the Eddie Murphy one was cute... but this one really takes great care in giving a nice homage to the DisneyWorld/DisneyLand ride. Lots of great inclusions of the various scenes from the park attraction.
Plus some funny moments, great use of CGI and some genuinely creepy/scary scenes.
Actually, I might have rated this a 4-star movie if not for the interminable LENGTH of the movie. It clocks in at over 2 hours and it's just not necessary. They could have easily cut out 30 minutes from this film. Hell, release a Director's Cut later if you need to.
But this is a "kids/family/teens" horror movie and it just needs to be an hour and a half at most. But these days, Hollywood has zero clue as to how to hold down the run time in a movie. Kinda frustrating actually.
That aside - and it's a big "THAT" - this movie is GREAT! Really dug it and had a great time with it. Some really fun performances in it as well. Nicely cast with a solid lead performance by LaKeith Stanfield who seems to be good in every single thing he does.
Great flick.
